Changes are afoot…..!!

“After about 50 years of dealing with all your photo requests the time has come to take a little bit of a step back and hand the baton on to a younger pair of hands; at 91 I am finding energy levels a little low. I am delighted to have been able to provide access to this growing archive for so many years…..  to help preserve, and encourage….  But I am not going away completely! I shall continue to work at adding to the archive, and being available for queries should Robin not be able to help, and obviously if any details associated with images need to be amended or added to.

Thanks very much for your support…..  and I hope that you will continue to support Robin and Kezlan Images as well as you have supported me”

                                                                                    Hugh Davies

From April 4th all the orders will be handled by Robin Fell and his team at Kezlan Images, which has provided all the scanning and printing services for Photos From The Fifties for a number of years now, and is already the home of the Transport Treasury and the Transport Library.  Photos From The Fifties will continue to exist as a separate entity; the only real change that will be visible to customers is that all contact details will show Kezlan Images as the primary contact point, and all requests will go direct to them rather than via Hugh Davies.

This change will allow Hugh more time to continue his work of adding images to the collection, using his vast experience and many connections to dig out and identify further gems; he will also be available if Robin is unable to assist with queries relating to any images in the Photos From The Fifties catalogue.

The Photos From The Fifties website will continue as it does now, as will the associated FaceBook page and posts.

There will clearly be a period of time where the new processes and responsibilities settle down; please bear with us and we will do all that we can to ensure that any queries and issues are dealt with as soon as possible.

Once again can I thank you all for your support and interest in my father’s passion.

                                                                                    Chris Davies (son)

2-6-4T No.4 Meenglas at Lough Eske at about 8.20pm whilst working the 8.4pm Q (when required) from Donegal to Stranorlar. The normal 2.40.pm goods from Strabane to Stranorlar had been extended to Donegal on this evening (as shown “as required”in the WTT) with 6 vans for Donegal and the brake coach. The train returned from Donegal at 8.6pm and called at Lough Eske for a tea break, though not booked to do so. The loop at Lough Eske wasn’t opposite the platform, but was on the curve at the Stranorlarend of the station. The leading coach in the train (No.12) was brought from Donegal as it was needed on the 10.25am Ancient Order of Hibernians special the following day, from Stranorlar to Killybegs. Goods van No.7 and two-compartment brake second No.28 complete this train
